It’s a Revelation, Not a Seminar

Is it any wonder why, without too many exceptions, those of us who have been received of the Father right from the beginning of our journey ended up in some kind of religious institutional setting? Main line or low profile – it doesn’t matter.

Prior to being received by God our Father, fear was the only impetus that freely operated within us. Being, according to the Scriptures “translated” out of the kingdom of darkness into the marvelous kingdom of the Father, we received a new spirit that had nothing to do with fear. But, without the Father making known to us and real in us what He had done, we simply inclined unto our natural soulish understanding and moved according to the flesh.

In my opinion, the greatest crippling force operating in fellow siblings is condemnation, even though scriptures plainly state, “Therefore there is now NO more condemnation for those who are IN Christ Jesus.” This fear-filled leaven has produced untold numbers of spiritual quadriplegics. And all condemnation produces unhealthy reactions. Modern psychologists have traced stress, anger, panic attacks and anxiety back to guilt and condemnation.

Father’s intention is never going to change regarding the many sons that have been birthed out of His first born son Jesus Christ. It is His ability alone that can make known to us the truth of Whose we are, and who we are in Him!

Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer: "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people. Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work." Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly. "The Father has given me all these things to do and say. This is a unique Father-Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge. No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does. But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen. "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."
It is only out of discovering the spirit of sonship we have freely received of the Father that we can enter into His rest!

So many are consumed with the religion of Christianity, but so very few are remotely even aware of BEING His son, particularly in today’s world.

Living out Loud

My Response To Pete

I thought because of the length of this, I would reply with a separate post regarding Pete’s question/s comments when I put this blog entry up.
Pete's thoughts etc. are in white, mine are in green.

I had listened to Darin on the God Journey podcast and I have friends who are very much part of Darin's Free Believer's Network, who encouraged me to look at the site and listen to some of the podcasts. The first thing I noticed on the home page was the introductory SERMON and the request for donations of $20 or more. That was two red flags!

Pete, All I know is that our heavenly Father has always made himself available to those seeking Him for Himself. I love how in Luke it says of Jesus, he sent the full away empty, but the empty, he sent away full! Not sure how that ties in here, but it is the truth just the same then as it is now.

I guess what I am pondering is, is my life, the life of the Father in us, as us, is it creating a hunger to want Him, to know Him without any unnecessary props? Are we more concerned in making others disciples of my/our opinions than of Him?
It seems that there is this mentality that has a firm grip on the hull of our thinking much like the barnacles on a ship, that if there is indeed a genuine hunger that has been birthed in the life of an individual then I must be that special someone they must have in their life in order to accurately hear Papa for their continued walk in grace. Is this the Truth?

BUT I did look at several articles and listened to a couple of podcasts. Some of the material is excellent but ...

I expressed my concern to another friend who pointed out that Darin was still giving sermons and that it seemed to him as if Darin was on a journey but hadn't yet had the courage to really step out of the box.

As I mentioned on my blog , Father has wonderfully enriched me personally through things he has written, on his pod casts etc, but I no longer see anyone especially those who are looked upon or on as being someone special. I kissed way to much ass in my former days playing the game within churchianity.

I am in the process of reading Wayne Jacobsen’s book, The Naked Church, and although in the very start of it I am seeing things he shared back more than 10 years ago being MOST relevant to some of what I have expressed in my thoughts re: this blog entry as well as in my reponse back to you.
By the way, before I forget, there was something you posted on a blog somewhere not sure where a line/phrase you said you had heard once that goes something like this; “I don’t really know what I think, until I have spoken it out loud.” I probably have misquoted you, but I loved that.
So in saying that even now in my pondering and sending this on to you, I too am learning, discovering much about what I really think, by voicing my thoughts out loud.

I love this part from Wayne’s book, and I intend to use this in a letter I'm forwarding to a good friend that has recently contacted me.

“Anyone who does not gush with admiration for church institutions and activities today is accused of being arrogant, rebellious, or judgemental. That’s our modern equivalent of being stupid or unfit. So, even though our Christian experience feels empty, we think we’re the only ones to feel that way. To admit this is unthinkable, so we rationalize those nagging thoughts that tell us this can’t really be what God had in mind. After all, there is always more to be gained by exploiting a system than there is by exposing it.”

We could both see that Darin had a lot to offer primarily younger people, who were beginning their journey outside of traditional Churchianity.

Pete, in my opinion, NONE of US has ANYTHING to offer anyone apart from Christ in us as us, period!! We are all placed in our journey of discovering at different times we are both students and teachers.
We are all being discipled by Christ Himself through His spirit working in and through each of us.

But this raised another question. How would we answer someone who suggested that had an elitist attitude?

Great question Pete; I love the story in Acts where it talks about a brother, an ‘Apostle’’ named Apollos who was an ’eloquent’ man, and he was mighty in the ‘Scriptures’. (Acts 18:24-28) This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord. He was according to the Scriptures speaking fervently in spirit, teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John, none the less spoke out boldly in the synagogue.
But, it says, and this is the heart beat of my response to your question; Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more ACCURATELY!

In my opinion when one sees them self being as a ‘someone-body’ as in, who do you think you are trying to tell me, don’t you know who I AM!
I am NOT saying this is how Darin sees himself, all I know is the church was fortunate back then that Apollos didn’t get all puffed up on who he was, but in fact a very real spirit of humility seemed to set the stage in his life in receiving a greater revelation of who this Christ was/is through what has often been referred to as ‘lay people.’
These two ‘lay people’ were fellow workers, colleagues with Paul himself.

I believe we miss so much in being puffed up vs. Being established and built up out His love 4 us ALL. It says in the Scriptures that the whole body is to be built up as a result of speaking the truth in love to each and every member. Our reliance is on one man, the man Christ Jesus as our only mediator between the Father and us!

I NO longer see any heroes, great men of God, but slowly as the eyes of my heart are being opened, I am SEEING the greatness of Him, our Papa in all that have been received of the Father.

We all NEED to see, especially those who might feel a bit superior to those ordinary garden variety type believers that He continues to oppose the proud, but graces the humble.
We are in great need of His grace and truth to NO LONGER recognize-know anyone after the flesh! Until this becomes the norm within the church, the cast systems will reign even outside ‘the box.’

And for the record, if I was able to sit down with Darin I would lovingly and calmly speak my heart to him expressing his need for me as much as my need for him, no more or less!!!

Rich

The simple answer is that I can't. I know the journey I have been on - outside the box to some extent for about 40 years - and how my thoughts and beliefs have changed gradually in that time.

Any thoughts?

Do You See What I See

My wife has been getting estimates on window and door replacements. One representative told her his company was best because it was part of an organization assembled for the sole purpose of ensuring that they were all on the same page when it came to window installation. Apparently, only the most respected contractors were invited to share their input. The guy talking to my wife said it was interesting to watch these big-name contractors, all with huge egos, debating and arguing over the course of two days over the best way to install a window, but eventually they hammered out a consensus.

When she shared this with me, I couldn’t help but see me in this story. I began to see once again how very easy it is to forget that Papa is love, and become so focused on seeing only my point of view at the expense of how much more my life could be enriched in (listening) hearing the Father’s heart being expressed through those like me who are growing and learning of His grace as well.

I love this quote from last weeks pod cast with Wayne and Brad from the
God Journey pod cast: “Its not because there's conflict, not because people see things differently, it's how we treat people who see things differently.” I do not want to be blinded by my need to have my ego pumped up at the expense of not extending His love that is poured out on me toward others.

Something else that made His heart so evident to me is what my friend
Dave shared recently: “I realized that my passion for photography had somewhat faded. At least the passion part. I do really enjoy it but I concluded that I would have more enjoyed knowing those people. That feeling out of place was a sense that if I joined that club it would be a knowing one another only after the photography (after the flesh, perhaps).”

I realize I am quoting several different ones here, but the combined pieces make up such a living mosaic it’s hard to know when to stop when so much life is hitting you between the eyes. Here is something from a wonderful friend I am just beginning to know,
Amy over at Walking in the Spirit.

What is becoming so real, so breath taking to me, is in seeing and hearing how so many of His sons and daughters are being brought into a vibrant, thriving, living encounter with the Father of their spirit, and the kicker is, it’s being done without the aid of any mediator other than the man Christ Jesus!

If we own nothing, then there is nothing to defend, and nothing to loose.

Conclusions

I find it truly amazing how stunted and short sighted I am, and how this is no longer filling me with despair or dread. We’ve all heard the expression, “You’re only seeing the tip of the ice-berg,” because the other nine tenths (of the story) is out of our range of vision. How many might have unknowingly within them this reactionary mindset of a mental gymnast, you know, the ones who “jump to false or erroneous conclusions.”

Hopefully this will be self explanatory. Most folks would easily bring in their own for sure definition of what a ‘sinful act’ would comprise of, usually some demented, sorted, dark, putrid and despicable action or behavior, but maybe not everything is as it appears to be?

I am beginning to grasp the reality of the, “why are you doing what you’re doing’ much more than what I am doing, meaning, I would ask you to consider that anything a ‘good’ person has done, you name it, apart from the Father’s leading and direction may in fact be but wood, hay and stubble.
Is that why Jesus emphasized that as the son of man, he could do nothing in and of himself, and it was equally made clear that what he said and did was only out of that being initiated by His Fathers’ actions?

We have been fully and eternally accepted into the Father's family through Christ. This does not mean that everything we do in this life isn’t necessarily acceptable to the Father. Any of us who have families know that we do not approve of everything our children do. This fact does not cause our children to cease being a part of the family however. It is these unacceptable things that must be destroyed for us to be fully suited for an eternity in the Father’s house. God is NO respecter of our efforts apart from His life leading.

The word ‘judgment’ for me is taking on a whole new understanding, as in, the ongoing refining work of His grace in our continued transformation. It is NOT for the purpose of punishment, but in fact is for the purpose of correction and purification.
As our vision is adjusted and things come into a sharper and clearer focus it becomes so blatantly obvious this too is but an extension of his fervent and stubborn love for us.

The good news is those whom the Father loves, he corrects, and without His involvement the bible calls us bustards. Isn’t it wonderful we have a say in this as to whether we’re going to frustrate His grace or, cooperate with it!

I thought I would add this comment I made on another post as I think it adds some additional consideration.

I see it being perfectly unaturally natural for us to see just about anything Father is saying through the scriptures as a "to-do" list, in that we have never experienced unconditional love and acceptance apart from Him, and even those who profess to Be His are having this old economic mind set addressed/undressed as He simply continues to lavish His love upon us. Much like the younger son who when he came to his senses came home and tried to win, earn work for His father's heart, when in fact the Father NEVER stopped loving him!

This Present Christ

If there is no ability to choose, then what good is free will?

It is my contention that being a human being and also a Christian is much like oil and water - they just don’t mix (or do they?), and it is within this dissonance our loving Father constantly presents us with such choices.

On a daily basis, to one degree or another, we are faced with the choice of being drawn, dragged back into our past or stymied with fear at the uncertainty of what the future holds. So many things compete to cloud our minds, and a clouded mind sees nothing!

The canvas of our mind is being painted with vivid and powerful strokes. The paint is especially formulated by the enemy to keep us living in an illusory world of fear lies and shadows, but the God of love stepped into this surreal world, clothing himself with our humanity, and in so doing embraced every fear we would ever experience. He lived as a man - and as a man overcame, defeated the father of lies and made a way of escape for us, right now, this very moment.

It is simply but powerfully summed up as, ‘I AM’!

Teachable Moments

It’s wonderful how thoughts are triggered, and the stimulation of those thoughts having the potential of launching us into further discovering and embracing life and what that encompasses, rather than merely surviving or existing.

What I’m pondering isn't something confined to any particular demographic – just to anyone who has 'flesh'! There are some who would say that those of us who are being awakened to His finished work are speaking against the 'holy place' (the institutional buildings) and the Law (scriptures). But in fact we are not railing against anything; rather, we are addressing the fact that there is a failure to 'recognize' the new thing that God has done and it is this: the geographic location (temple, building) has been replaced with Him being present within us as Life, ‘Do you not recognize that you are the temple of God?’, and the law/scriptures have been fulfilled in Christ-the Word.

There is no shame attached to any of us having limited objective understanding on any matter, especially in regards to those wanting to know the ‘ways’ of the Lord better. But it is a most critical matter when I (we) choose to limit our understanding because of fear of thinking ‘outside the box’ or outside of what is normally accepted as ‘truth’. Without being malleable, teachable, and receptive to further and broadened understanding and insight which is only possible (in my opinion) because of the Father’s love, we will take the posture of being combative, argumentative, and challenging.

Here is an
example of what I am considering, and hopefully the setting will further illustrate what I am trying to flesh out.
Two of Paul’s traveling companions on his missionary journey were a couple named Priscilla and Aquila, a husband and wife team that made a living along with Paul in tent-making. For all intents and purposes these were two very ordinary unobtrusive people, but what was operating within them was not ordinary at all. This extraordinary insight and understanding they had regarding a ‘more perfect way of the Lord’ was in my understanding, a byproduct of them learning of the Father’s unconditional love, ergo, living loved. Nothing about this couple indicated they needed an opportunity such as this encounter with the ‘mighty’ Apostle Apollos, to inflate their languishing egos or to be recognized as VIPs in disguise!

These words from Proverbs epitomize the spirit and teachable attitude I sense within this man named Apollos:

If you correct those who care about life, that's different—they'll love you for it!Save your breath for the wise—they'll be wiser for it; tell good people what you know—they'll profit from it. Skilled living gets its start in the Fear-of-God, insight into life from knowing a Holy God. It's through me, Lady Wisdom, that your life deepens, and the years of your life ripen. Live wisely and wisdom will permeate your life; mock life and life will mock you.

The fruit of Apollos’ choosing - to move beyond his limited understanding and not choosing to ‘limit’ his thinking because of fear - had the result that the message of who the Christ is was able to penetrate even deeper into the hearts and minds of many.

With the ever-increasing experiential knowing of the Father’s love, I am beginning to see how totally ludicrous it is for me (due to fear) to pick and choose to listen to only those brethren of my liking who can further expound and deepen my awareness of this awesome God and Father.

It is my opinion that the glue that appears to stick so many of us together is more a fear-based thinking versus faith working through love. First and foremost within my own life, along with any member of the body of Christ, I am longing and eagerly anticipating a time whereby we believers can mutually be open and receptive to the Father’s loving correction, freeing us to come into the
‘fullness’ of all that God the Father has for the church which is His body.

Love is All We Need

"Behold, O My people, I will open your graves . . ." ( Ezekiel 37:12 ). When God wants to show you what human nature is like separated from Himself, He shows it to you in yourself. If the Spirit of God has ever given you a vision of what you are apart from the grace of God (and He will only do this when His Spirit is at work in you), then you know that in reality there is no criminal half as bad as you yourself could be without His grace. My "grave" has been opened by God and "I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells" ( Romans 7:18 ). God’s Spirit continually reveals to His children what human nature is like apart from His grace.

Here’s the
rest.

It is truly amazing how the master of disguise, Satan, the father of lies goes so unnoticed in and through what we like to call ‘human nature’.
Learning, and that is only possible as the invasion of a Father’s love begins to address (undress) that which has become but a cheap substitute to define who I am, who we are.

All that is missing, all that is lacking, is found in only one thing, the love of God the Father, and that love as it is becoming fleshed out in and through us, is releasing into my world the truth that God is indeed LOVE!

And the Blind Shall See

Even a blind man can count the number of seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of orchards in one seed!

My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you'll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ's love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Without Faith

"It's impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that he exists and that he cares enough to respond to those who seek him" (out).

In our semi regular getaway on the weekend which happened today, my wife and I have a wonderful time of connecting without the usual work related distractions and most often we are able to listen to the current pod cast with Wayne and Brad from the
God Journey.
In our time of listening and thinking, my wife asked the question regarding the love of God. If God so loves, then why when a person is/seems to be so committed to following Him are there so many incongruent and contradictory pain filled happenings that leave a person stymied?

Could it be that even though the miracle of the re-birthing has happened in a persons life, they might still be operating with the currency of this world, aka, performance based behaviour-acceptance?
One of the reasons I harp on the ‘unconditional’ love of God is to illustrate the stark contrast between acceptance based upon how well I am doing, trying to please Him, verses being totally embraced-accepted because He loves me period.

Could it be that at best apart from God the Father opening up the eyes of our heart to see how He defines Love, we will predictably end up very frustrated and down right livid at Him for not loving us and looking after us.

Spring Time

One’s ability to see or recognize the involvement of our Father’s activity in our lives is imperative.
There are so many that grow up either with an absent father that was never a part of the picture or one that was there but still absent, MIA, missing in action.
It is very easy to transfer the hurt, blame (rejection) pain and confusion onto this God that calls himself Father, especially when it says He is taking such an active role in your life.

The devastation that has traumatized the human race having been born separated from God has many repercussions, from the sublime to the ridiculous, but all spelling a lost alienated and separation from the true source of Life.

It is nothing short of a miracle how God is able to cut through, pierce the darkness that has invaded our soul, bringing into the prison house we have been shackled to, the temporal, physical world, the only world we have ever known, the revelation that not only is God love, but of the intensity of His love for us.
It is this truth, unfolding reality of the Father’s intense love for me that continues to open doors that were formerly nailed (spiked) shut.

My job is one that has put me outside daily in the process of delivering the mail, and along with that comes a real mixed bag of good, bad and ugly pertaining the outdoor elements, the weather.
Right now, very slowly spring is trying its best to convince us to believe it really is here, but there continues to be lingering evidence that it has not fully kicked in. Be that as it may because of this very hard, cold very long winter we have experienced here, whenever we have a reprieve from winters relinquishing taunting and the temp’s begin to be somewhat normal and even exceed the norm, people crawl seemingly out of the wood work, outside want to do whatever they can do lawn, yard clean up wise.

It was these actions of many folks that caught my attention the other day who were eagerly and aggressively out raking their lawns, using broom rakes, comb rakes, and even some using brooms to try and squeeze in as much time as possible to make as it were hay while the sun shined.
I saw others busy pruning dead branches from trees, and other lawn cleanup activities. Suddenly seemingly from nowhere, I hear my Father’s loving but firm voice, ‘Son what are you seeing in all of this’, I thought on that for a few seconds and said, Lord I’m not sure other than it is so cool seeing what the sun can do in drawing folks outside when they have been cloistered in their house all winter, and enjoying not only being outside, but being able to be part of seeing the miracle of spring replacing the naked season of winter.’
It was in His question to me that the answer seemed to suddenly appear to me, it was so simple, it always is when He allows us to see isn’t it!
I began to hear His heart afresh for me, ‘Son, these people are doing all they can with what they have, no matter the tools they are using to rake their lawns for the purpose of getting rid of the old dead growth, and to stimulate the new life that is about to turn their dead brown world into a world of vibrant and living colors.’

It was as if He was saying to me, ‘Do you want to bear that which I want to produce within you, because if you do then just like the aggressive and very caustic measures these people are taking to see new growth, life spring forth from their lawns and trees is what is needed and necessary in your life.’
In a moment my mind was recalling so many things that I have been facing lately and beginning to see how it was these seemingly very aggressive and caustic (pain filled) events that had been and are being used of my loving Father to prepare me for a whole new season of Life that is about to spring forth!
In the blink of an eye, it was so humbling to see the lies I had embraced about this Father’s seemingly inactivity, being removed or not actively involved in my continued growth.
The lies were displaced in one quick moment, ushering in such deep appreciation for a Father that uses ALL things to prove, demonstrate His unrestrained commitment of love to me, His son!

Losing My Religion

I apologize for the small print in this cartoon, so here is a link to it.

After reading the following article, it greatly helped in moving me forward today with some thoughts I started off with.

Truth, is it some kind of encrypted hieroglyphic codification still waiting for some higher form of being, intelligence, maybe even celestial personality that will be able to crack the code for us?

I wonder if the best and most correct answer, the best translation and interpretation of the bible and all that it contains (was accomplished) is what God the Father did in sending His son, 'The Word becoming flesh and dwelling amongst us'.
And just maybe the best translation (transformational work) of that reality is not simply to be re-birthed as glorious as that is, but to have Christ FULLY formed within us, to BE as it were Christ (Love-Life) to our world where ever we might live?

Maybe even with the best and sharpest minds of the time back 2000 years ago, those claiming to know the Torah forwards and backwards, were by and large incapable of somehow recognizing the Word who had been made flesh right before them and living amongst them?

From my perspective, none of us know what true love is; yes we all talk about and long to be loved, why? Because the best we know and call love to be is a performance based acceptance. In my opinion everything we see, feel, do, flows out from that innate imprinting that I will only be loved and accepted if I do what is right and good. Sounds pretty fearful at best to me, but then again apart from the Truth of His love, what would one really expect?
How can I not inflict this upon my fellow man when at our core that’s what we believe about ourselves?

How is it ever going to be possible to love my neighbor as myself, if the only working definition of love I’ve ever known is rooted in trying harder, performing, trying to measure up?

Getting back to having the correct-right answers, the best translation-interpretation issue, maybe it all boils down to KNOWING the total unconditional loving acceptance of God the Father first and foremost, and in growing in that reality, we are going to be able to experience Him being FULLY formed in me a whole lot easier don't you think?

As the Word became flesh, is that same Word now being fleshed out in us, the flesh and blood people who use religion even the religion of Christianity to talk about what is right and wrong, but never even coming close to displaying openly that what He came primarily for was that we might have life and it in abundance?

Isn't it sad how we all at best have 'interpreted' life to be synonymous with religion, when in fact the Word that became flesh and pitched his tent here with us as a man, was in fact born into a world ruled by nothing but religion?

The heart beat of all religion has its roots in a performance based approval-acceptance, no matter the flavor or packaging it might come in. Judaism was simply imo one of the religions of the time.
His love-life was going to become available to whomsoever, based upon what the Father alone did perfectly through a man, the son of man, the Man-Christ Jesus, and that perfect work would be the basis of perfectly loving and accepting us with no performances needed or required on our behalf to have His approval.

Apart from truly experiencing an ever growing increasing knowing of the Father's love for us, how will we not be caught up in just another expression of religion that has nothing to do whatsoever with LIFE!

Awake My Beloved

I am my Beloved's and He is mine, as deep calls unto the deep, so does the wonder of your dangerous grace, your reckless abandoned love for me awaken such passion for you!

This is something I read this morning that thrills my soul, thank you Father, that through death to the Law, I have been raised up in Christ, now free to BE married to another.

Rich

When the very nature and will of the self have died, when the soul, in its experience of death, falls into the embrace of God. . . when the inward parts of that believer are truly united to the Lord. . . with nothing between, then, the soul is united to the Lord. Oddly, the believer himself does not recognize this. Consequently, he cannot enjoy the fruits of this union, not until God brings this new life into being and the believer begins to realize that the Lord has become the soul's vitalizing source.

A young bride who has fainted into the embrace of her husband is closely united with him, but she does not enjoy the blessedness of her union with him because she is unconscious. Nonetheless, her husband holds her in his arms while she is in a state of fainting that has come from excess love. He recalls her to life again, tenderly by his caresses, and as she comes to consciousness she knows that she possesses him whom her soul loves and that she is possessed by him. So, too, is it with the believer.

Amazing

Somehow this spoke to me of how dangerous His love is and how reckless His grace seems.
